Join Hand Papermaking and Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Friday, September 19, to celebrate the publication of Hand Papermaking’s special Summer 2008 issue. Sign up now by calling (800) 821-6604 or mail/fax this form.

Guests are welcome to arrive any time between 4:00 and 7:00 for tea and conversation in the papermill observing the creation of a collaborative paperwork, one of which you will take home as a keepsake. Try your hand at the vat if you wish, or head upstairs to Pyramid’s galleries for drinks and appetizers. The main program begins with a light dinner at 7:00 while Tom Bannister and Helen Frederick speak about why established artists work with papermaking as an art form, and Gretchen Schermerhorn introduces some notable up-and-coming paper artists including Lisa Hill. Afterwards, enjoy a personalized viewing of four exhibits: Design and Pattern in Handmade Paper, Innovative Printmaking on Handmade Paper, The Secret Life of Paper, and Handmade Paper in Motion.

The event concludes with your chance to bid on four valuable paper artworks by well-known artists Laurence Barker, Georgia Deal, Helen Frederick, and Ken Polinskie.

Attendance is limited, and priority will be given to Hand Papermaking subscribers, so please RSVP early and support Hand Papermaking, a 22-year-old non-profit organization advancing traditional and contemporary ideas in the art of handmade paper. Call (800) 821-6604 to reserve a spot or use this form.

Pyramid Atlantic is located at 8230 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Call them at (301) 608-9101 for assistance, or view directions and map here.
