Innovative Printmaking
on Handmade Paper
This juried collection features twenty distinctive prints with handmade paper. Numerous printmaking methods are represented, some traditional, some contemporary, some unquestionably innovative (e.g., printing from part of a saxophone!). Techniques include etching, woodblock, chine collé, linocut, digital inkjet, silkscreen, monotype, lithography, pochoir, aquatint, and letterpress. The handmade paper is inherent in the artwork. The paper techniques include watermarking, pulp painting, double couching, and overbeating; with fibers such as cotton, linen, abaca, hemp, kozo, flax, and sea grass.
