Exploring themes of loss, resilience, and currents. Three stellar artists—all based in Providence, Rhode Island—have crafted word, pulp, and ink for this limited edition.
‘See it now,’ a poem by Cole Swensen, was printed on square sheets of variable handmade paper created by Kate Aitchison with printed imagery by Anna McNeary in the fall of 2020 to benefit Hand Papermaking, Inc.
- The poem is dedicated to fellow poet C.D. Wright, a MacArthur Fellow and the former poet laureate of Rhode Island.
- Kate Aitchison, inspired by Cole's poem and by watching the setting sun, produced 100 unique sheets of square handmade paper by a dipping a Western-style mould into vats of blue, pink, and orange denim cotton rag and half-stuff pulp.
- A subtly shimmering gloss wave-pattern was created and printed by the printmaking artist Anna McNeary.
